Low carbon foot print and ethical sourcing - Our wool journey.
We often get asked where our wool comes from and if we use our own wool.
The answer to that is simple, yes, originally we only used our own wool, however, as the business has grown we have had to source our wool from different farms. We are currently sourcing wool that would otherwise be considered waste - the dags, bellies and pieces from over 200 different NZ farms.
Sustaina Grow is based on a paddock-to-product business model.
All our products are traceable, with complete visibility of our production processes. All farms we source our wool from are New Zealand Farm Assurance Programme (NZFAP) certified and adhere to strict animal welfare and husbandry practices.
All our products from our mulch mats to our tree guards and wool pots are MADE IN NEW ZEALAND. It was important to keep a low carbon foot print and support a circular economy in NZ. Why send our products to India or elsewhere when they can be ethically made here in NZ supporting NZ employment and fair wages?
Sustainability is at the heart of our business operation. We work with businesses to find sustainable solutions to problems they may face. Our products complement a low-impact design process and we work to provide a product to remedy and mitigate the effects of soil erosion, sediment run-off and sediment deposition.
Strong communities are a driving factor in what we do, and we always like to give back and help with community projects in the towns we find ourselves working.
If you are running a community project, send us an email at info@sustainagrow.co.nz and we will see what we can do to help.
